CVRS attorneys Tim Van Ronzelen and Kari Schulte obtained this settlement on behalf of a client who was seriously injured when the vehicle she was operating was hit by a commercial motor vehicle (particularly, a vehicle used in the construction industry). Our client was in the common situation of needing immediate funds to manage the bills pouring in related to the injuries suffered. Our firm worked to obtain the recovery within 1 year of the crash.
Bridge Collapse Leads to Confidential Settlement

Confidential Settlement in Drunk Driver Car Crash – Liability, Bad Faith, and Underinsured Motorist Coverage
CVRS Attorneys Tim Van Ronzelen and Josh Moore were able to obtain multiple settlements for a client who was injured by a drunk driver in a side-swiped car crash. After the drunk-driver’s insurance failed to pay the minimal policy limits, suit was filed and ultimately a settlement was reached with the liability policy limits and a significant recovery for the bad faith claim. Then a claim was made against the client’s underinsured motorist coverage which resulted in another policy limits settlement.
Summary Judgment Obtained on Behalf of Business Client
Tim Van Ronzelen was part of a legal team that obtained summary judgment on behalf of a business client of the firm. Our client was sued by a former business partner for several million dollars. The litigation involved complex issues of patent use and patent licensing. After taking part in discovery and engaging experts, we were able to secure summary judgment on behalf of our client which resulted in our client paying nothing to the company that had sued them.
$3,975,000 Settlement – Bad Faith Insurance
CVRS attorney Matt Clement was part of a team of attorneys who recently secured a $3,975,000 settlement against State Farm Insurance Company. The case related to State Farm refusing to defend one of its policy holders who was a defendant in a lawsuit. State Farm’s failure to defend its insured resulted in the policy holder being hit with a judgment of several million dollars. Matt represented the policy holder in a case against State Farm related to its alleged failure to live up to its obligations under the insurance policy. Matt and the other attorneys argued the case successfully in the trial court and then at the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Western District.
$250,000 Settlement – Automobile Accident
Attorneys Tim Van Ronzelen and Josh Moore recently obtained a $250,000 settlement for a married couple injured due to a couch that was negligently dropped and left on Interstate 70. The couple were traveling at night when they suddenly came upon a couch in their lane of traffic. They swerved to avoid the couch and hit the median barrier. The case was brought against the driver who failed to properly secure the couch (and failed to promptly act to remove the hazard).

Matt Clement and Josh Moore represented a bicyclist who was injured when his bicycle struck an unmarked water divergence bump in the roadway causing him to crash and suffer serious injuries. The case involved disputed liability and multiple defendants.

Tim Van Ronzelen and Kari Schulte represented a client who was injured in a car crash. The other driver’s insurance company refused to make a fair offer to resolve the case after their insured passed away – from unrelated reasons (age). The case was tried to Cole County jury. Tim and Kari also assisted their client in identifying and recovering under her own underinsured policy.

Kari Schulte represented a client who fell into an unmarked and partially covered hole at a place of business. Her client suffered badly broken bones, causing permanent mobility issues.
